Feb 15th Government Shutdown Looms Over Farmers As Bankruptcies Already Soar.

Farmers have not yet recovered from the 2018–19 government shutdown where they were made to wait on subsidy payments, loans and data they need now to make plans for the spring planting. This on top of being hit with fallen commodity prices and the loss of foreign markets in Trump’s trade wars has pushed many farms to bankruptcy.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Chapter 12 bankruptcy protection filings are on the rise — increasing to levels that have not been seen in at least 10 years. Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin saw a 100 percent increase in bankruptcy claims filed in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 2018 compared to 2008. Other states in the farm belt saw similar increases.

And now farmers may face another shutdown on Feb 15th which will seriously interfere with the spring planting season — a shutdown totally fabricated to serve Trump’s ego and extreme right wing base. How do you think the farmers in your state will feel about that — going bankrupt to serve Trump’s ego? Do you think they will vote for him in 2020? Do you think they will vote for you who abandoned them and their interests in support of a pathological liar driven by ego to build a medieval wall against an imaginary enemy?
