The 21 Series: Nancy Pelosi To MOC, “Dear Colleague”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reaching across the aisle. Her letter, “Dear Colleague”, has been sent to Republican and Democrats in the House asking them to sign onto a resolution to terminate Trump’s border emergency declaration.

“The President’s decision to go outside the bounds of the law to try to get what he failed to achieve in the constitutional legislative process violates the Constitution and must be terminated,” Pelosi wrote in her “Dear Colleague” letter.

Pelosi argued in the letter that members have an obligation to uphold the power of the legislative branch. There is no doubt the bill will pass the House. Then it will be up to you in the Senate. Will you fulfill your sworn to uphold the Constitution or will be you be a sycophant and support a racist petulant criminal?

Strong words? I think not. Trump heads a criminal enterprise that now controls the Executive Branch of government. He seeks to broaden his reach contrary to the principles of separation of power.

If you think voters are too stupid to see this you are badly mistaken. We remembered your cruel attempts to dismantle the ACA; we remembered your war on climate change; we remembered your tax law which benefits the richest 1% in this country and voted our fury in the mid-term elections.

That fury grows stronger each day. If you continue to support Trump’s dangerous, criminal, unconstitutional policies, you will be unemployed in 2020. He will be in jail.
